Saint Cooks WTM event

Investing in St Helena, one cake at a time

We are proud and excited to have been this year’s official caterers for the Saint Diaspora networking event by Enterprise St Helena and St Helena Tourism in London.
Enterprise St Helena and St Helena Tourism Office, along with numerous St Helenian businesses and investors took part in a two-week program of presentations and networking at the 2019 International Tourism and Investment Conference and the International Travel Trade Show – World Travel Market (WTM) earlier this month.

Having previously launched a new investment prospectus for the Island.  The purpose of the evening was to meet with St Helenian’s and Island stakeholders in the UK to talk about Tourism, investment and the exciting opportunities for Saints and Saint connections abroad who have invested or are considering investing back into the Island.

The evening’s proceedings were lead by Enterprise St Helena’s Director of Investment, Martin George. Martin presented the Island’s Investment Prospectus: Opportunities & Incentives to the group as well as taking questions from the numerous St Helenian entrepreneurs and investors who attended.  Also speaking on the theme “Where we are and where we are going” was Chief Executive for Economic Development, Dawn Cranswick on the Economic Key Messages for the Island and Tourism Manager, Melissa Fowler on the Tourism key messages, promotions and dates.

Also on the evening was a fascinating talk given by Deputy Director of the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute (SAERI), Tara Pemlembe on an exciting new Academia, Research & Conferences live investment opportunity called the St Helena Research Institute (SHRI) which is scheduled to launch later this month.

The event ended with an informal gathering over tea, coffee and of course our delicious cakes and treats. We baked coconut fingers, cheese Straws, pumpkin Puddin, curry puffs and ‘Bread n Dance’.  Offering two gluten-free options for those who preferred it.

It was a lovely evening to be a part of and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet new investors and business owners all of whom, like us, are invested in celebrating, growing and developing St Helena.
